Psychopedagogy Department

Overview

This Department at the Faculty of Education is responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative issues of four Bachelor’s Degrees (Community Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Basic Primary Education); and also the Pedagogy program, aligned with the Institutional Development Plan, “A university committed to training teachers for a Peaceful Colombia”” (valid from 2014-2019.) Also, linked to the Political Pedagogical Project of the University, the Department aims to train highly educated future teachers; to contribute to academic discussions on education in the country; to generate knowledge in the field of education and pedagogy; to transform jointly education at all levels according to cultural, social, and political dynamics and demands; and strengthening the social fabric based on respect for individuals, diversity, and territories. The Department also seeks to contribute to the mission statements of teaching, research, and extension, as follows:

  • Train the country’s future teachers with a high educational level.
  • Contribute to academic discussions regarding the country’s education.
  • Build knowledge in the educational and pedagogical field.
  • Jointly transform education at all levels in accordance with cultural, social and political dynamics and demands.
  • Strengthen the social fabric based on respect for subjects, diversities and territories.
  • Contribute from the missionary functions of teaching, research and extension.

  • Social and cultural processes that demand the involvement of professionals in education and pedagogy.
